Metro rail service resumes after 1.5 hour halt
The service was halted around 7pm and resumed around 8:30pm
Metro rail service in the capital resumed after about 1.5 hour halt due to a technical glitch today (25 May).
The service was halted around 7pm and resumed around 8:30pm, said Mohammad Abdur Rouf, secretary of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL).
"Power connection from the transformer to our control room was not working properly. Since it is a matter of control room, we halted services due to safety concerns," said Abdur Rouf.
Earlier, DMTCL Managing Director MAN Siddique said, "Train movement was interrupted for 15 minutes after the Maghrib prayer due to a glitch in power lines. Since then, trains have been running normally."
Around 7:30pm, announcements were made at various stations that trains will not run due to a technical glitch.
Passengers were requested to take alternative routes if they are in a hurry. It was also announced that the ticket fare will be refunded to the passengers.
Some passengers took to social media and the Traffic Alert group on Facebook to express their frustration over the halt without any prior notice.
