Uber has revoked app access for the driver accused of attempting to kidnap film actress Nijhum Rubina.
"Safety is paramount at Uber. We have removed the driver's access to the Uber app. We stand ready to assist law enforcement authorities with any support," said an Uber spokesperson.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested the ride-sharing driver on Saturday (25 January) from the capital's Rampura area.
The incident occurred on 21 January when Nijhum alleged, in a Facebook post, that she escaped a kidnapping attempt during an Uber ride from Banasree to Dhanmondi.
The driver reportedly diverted through Gulshan and ignored her pleas to stop, prompting her to jump out of the moving car.
