Some unidentified people have put up banners at various entrances of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in the capital's Shahbagh, changing the institution's name to Bangladesh Medical University.
Patients and students arriving at BSMMU Hospital this morning (8 February) found the previous name at different blocks covered with black ink and plastic banners with Bangladesh Medical University written on them.
BSMMU sources said the name change has been done by a group of students and people.

The university's vice-chancellor, pro-VC, and registrar were unavailable for comments over the phone.
