Water all around, but no water to drink in Cumilla
"Right now, drinking water has become more crucial for our survival than food," one of the residents said
Golam Mostafa, 53, had to move to the roof of his house in Cumilla's Ichamati village when flood water entered his home two days ago. He had been staying there with his family since then.
"We received some food. But we have no water to drink," Mostafa told TBS.
"Right now, drinking water has become more crucial for our survival than food," he added. Nazmul Hasan, 24, from Shikarpur village, shared that his father and brother have been on the roof of a house for three days.

"My brother Liton managed to bring some water to the roof. There is no remaining food or drinking water there," he said.
Nazmul said his father and brother last communicated with him this morning (24 August).
There has been no news from them since then.
Thousands of people like Mostafa and Nazmul in Cumilla's Burichong upazila are trapped in flood water as a vast area of the upazila was flooded due to a breach in the dam at the Burburia area of the Gumti river on Thursday (22 August).
Many of these people affected by the sudden floods could not reach shelters. Finding no other alternative, they have taken refuge on the roofs of their homes.
Meanwhile, some residents decided to stay in their homes, wading through deep water.
Sohrab Hossain Shubho, a volunteer who studies at Victoria College, said they have been distributing relief in Pirjatrapur, Sadekpur, Ananda Nagar, Ichhapur, and Sholanal areas of Cumilla's Burichong upazila for the past two days.
