Teen gang ‘stabs youth to death’ in Chattogram, 36 held
Police detained 36 people immediately after the incident
A youth was stabbed to death and five others were injured in an attack allegedly launched by a teen gang in the Jamburi Park area in Agrabad, Chattogram on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Md Hashem, a resident of Rangipara area under Halishahar police station, police said.
Police raided the area immediately after the incident and detained 36 people.
Officer in Charge of Double Mooring police station Md Mohsin told The Business Standard that members of "Agrabad Eastern Boys Club," including Hashem, arranged a bike rally which disrupted traffic movement on the road in the area.
When a local youth protested against the organisation of the event, Hashem and his accomplices got embroiled in an altercation with him. At one stage, some other youths joined the protesting youth and both sides locked into a clash. Hashem was stabbed and injured critically during the clash, Officer in Charge Md Mohsin added.
When informed, police rushed to the spot and took the injured to the Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where an on duty doctor declared him dead.
Five others injured in the incident were also receiving treatment at the hospital.
