China Harbour provides relief for poor people in Khulna
People that have been badly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic got rice, lentil, potato, salt and soap, among other essentials
The China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd (CHEC) has provided aid for 2,000 poor families in the Khulna City Corporation area.
People badly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic got the relief, which included rice, lentil, potato, salt and soap.
Khulna City Corporation Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque received the aid from Md Shahed Ramjan, chief coordinator of CHEC Bangladesh, at the former's office on Tuesday, reads a press release.
"The pandemic has badly hit the national economy and low earning groups have been affected the worst. Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have been trying to support the poor people in different areas of Bangladesh," said Shahed.
"It is a part of our corporate social responsibility programme, which we hope to continue in the days ahead," he added.
Earlier, the company donated medical items to the Bangladesh government. It also distributed food and novel coronavirus protection gears for poor people in different areas, including the Mirsarai and Anwara Upazilas in Chattogram, as well as Madaripur, Tangail and Brahmanbaria districts.
CHEC has successfully completed the Khulna Water Treatment Plant Project under the Khulna WASA.
During the implementation of the project, the company undertook several social programmes committed to improve the quality of life and health of residents of the city corporation.
