Banglalink to implement work from home policy to curb coronavirus spread
Personnel working in the firm’s essential services sections, such as network operation, customer service, LIC support would not fall under the policy
Telecommunications service provider Banglalink will allow its employees to work from home amid the spread of coronavirus.
The working from home policy will be effective for a period of two weeks commencing from March 18, Banglalink Corporate Communications Senior Manager Ankit Sureka told The Business Standard on Monday.
Personnel working in the firm's essential services sections, such as network operation, customer service, LIC support would not fall under the policy.
"In light of the worldwide outbreak of COVID -19 and pandemic declaration by the World Health Organisation (WHO), Banglalink, being a socially responsible company, is actively monitoring the situation and preparing to ensure full organization wide readiness in case of adverse local development," said Ankit Sureka.
The company has encouraged its employees to limit their outside interactions to an absolute minimum and for emergency situations only.
Ankit added: "We believe that in a crisis situation, mobile network providers have obligations to ensure maximum availability of their services to support governmental efforts. Accordingly, Banglalink (following Veon's guidance) has decided to implement work from home for most of the employees for a period of two weeks commencing from March 18, 2020."
To ensure employee's health and safety, Banglalink has taken several measures including travel restrictions, avoidance of mass gatherings; till date no Banglalink employee or their family members have contracted COVID-19.
The measures taken by the company is to limit the employees being exposed to COVID -19 and also test the firm's ability to serve in case, a local crisis situation emerge. The key principle behind this initiative is to ensure zero impact on network availability, sales services, customer care and we are determined to maintain all ongoing services at the highest level of quality.
"Moreover, as per the guidance of the WHO and the government, we are following all the guidelines related to ensure disinfection and personal hygiene in all our Banglalink offices and service centers," Sureka futher added.
