President-elect Joe Biden on Monday said a coronavirus vaccine approval process must be "grounded science and fully tansparent" so the public can have confidence that it is safe and effective.
He made the statement while speaking to reporters about efforts to confront the coronavirus pandemic after meeting with members of his "Transition Covid-19 Advisory Board" in Wilmington, Delaware in USA.
Joe Biden said, "Soon the expectation is the FDA will run the process of rigorous reviews and approvals. And the process must also be grounded in science and fully transparent so the American people can have every confidence that any approved vaccine is safe and effective."
"I implore you, wear a mask. Do it for yourself. Do it for your neighbor. A mask is not a political statement," Biden said, adding that he would spare no effort to turn the pandemic around once he is sworn in, reports CNN.
Biden added that even if a vaccine is approved it "will not be widely available for many months yet to come."
