Army stands by the poor in Cox’s Bazar
As an Eid gift from the army, the relief operation received huge appreciation in the district
The 10th Infantry Division of the Bangladesh Army conducted free medical camp and organized an "Army Market" to distribute essentials for free among the jobless and poor on Friday in Cox's Bazar.
The relief operation covered 1,000 families in the southeastern coastal district of Bangladesh while another 200 people received free healthcare service ahead of Eid amid novel coronavirus pandemic.
An Inter Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) Friday said that the army personnel purchased the agro produces directly from farmers in locked down districts. The initiative benefited farmers in those areas to get fair prices for their produces apart from helping the poor.

Other cantonments across the country are conducting such humanitarian operations since the virus outbreak to help ease sufferings of the low-income people.
It is to be mentioned that the 10th Infantry Division has been deployed in Cox's Bazar and four Chattogram upazilas since March 24. The division is conducting regular patrols, building mass awareness against Covid-19 and distributing face masks and hand sanitizers.
The army personnel are also cutting back on their rations and distributing the essentials among the poor. They are also working alongside the locals to restore roads, infrastructures and embankments as Cyclone Amphan left a trail of devastation in the coastal districts.
Ten medical teams of the Bangladesh Army are conducting healthcare operations at cyclone-hit areas since Thursday.
