Bank account of former minister Qamrul Islam frozen
The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has directed banks to freeze all accounts of former food minister Qamrul Islam.
The BFIU sent a letter to banks today (21 November) ordering them to freeze any accounts under his name or those linked to related institutions for the next 30 days.
The former minister was arrested by police from a house in Uttara's Sector-12 on Monday (18 November). The following day, he was placed on an eight-day remand in a case lodged over the murder of trader Abdul Wadud.
