BOU stresses efficiency and accountability in student services
Bangladesh Open University (BOU) today hosted a workshop titled "Improving the Quality of Student Services and Bringing Dynamism to Work " at the university's central auditorium.
The workshop aimed to enhance the quality of student services and expedite work processes.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ABM Obaidul Islam chaired the workshop and emphasised the need for prompt service delivery and accountability. He expressed his disappointment at the delay in processing files, stating that it was unfair to students.
"Since taking over as Vice-Chancellor, I have noticed a significant delay in file processing. This is unacceptable," Professor Islam said. "I have instructed all staff to expedite their work and avoid unnecessary delays. Favouritism will not be tolerated, and those who perform their duties diligently will be duly recognised."
Based on his Dhaka University experience, Professor Islam stressed the importance of a positive work environment and mutual respect. "I have never faced any delays in file processing at Dhaka University. This was possible because of the cooperation and dedication of my colleagues," he added.
The workshop saw open discussions among deans, department heads, and regional and sub-regional centre officials. Participants raised various issues and concerns, which the university authorities assured would be addressed promptly.
Professor Dr Dil Rawshan Jannat Ara Naznin, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Dr Saeed Ferdous, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration), and Professor Dr Abul Hasnat Mohammad Shamim, Treasurer, were present as special guests. Professor Dr Abu Taleb, Director of Student Support Services, delivered the welcome address.
