Dialogue on Peace, Diversity, Human Rights, and Environmental Justice held in Dhaka
A dialogue focusing on peace, diversity, human rights, environmental rights, and justice, as well as building an inclusive society, was held in Dhaka to mark International Day of Peace.
The two-day event, organised by the Films 4 Peace Foundation, took place on September 21-22, 2024, at Bishwo Shahitto Kendro, Dhaka. It was supported under the Youth Engagement in Democracy and Human Rights project in collaboration with the Manusher Jonno Foundation.
The dialogue included four panel discussions: "Peace, Diversity, and Inclusive Society", "Diversity and Inclusion in the Integration of Peace and Human Rights", "Climate Change, Environmental Justice, and Peace", and "Environmental Justice and Its Impact on Human Rights". Throughout the discussions, key opinions were shared on enhancing peace and security, media literacy, and youth skills to combat climate change. Participants emphasised the need to integrate these efforts into policy-making and to organise youth from marginalised areas onto a unified platform.
During the event, youth participants urged the government to take initiatives to empower young people working on environmental and climate issues, both nationally and internationally, to enable them to play a more significant role in combating climate change.
