Soon, toll payments for crossing the Padma Bridge will be made electronically instead of cash, enabling an automated and digital transaction process.
This will save time for vehicles, make toll collection more transparent, and streamline the system. Last Wednesday, mobile financial service (MFS) provider "Upay" was officially selected to implement the Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) system on Padma Bridge.
According to the Bangladesh Bridge Authority, the initiative aims to expand digital transactions and ensure a more transparent, seamless, and efficient toll collection process. After evaluating various MFS providers, "Upay" was chosen for this implementation.
An official from the Bridge Authority stated, "Once toll collection through 'Upay' is operational, vehicle drivers will find it easier and faster to pay tolls, reducing travel time and improving the bridge's management efficiency."
Representatives from "Upay" have assured that their advanced technology-based services will allow users to pay tolls quickly and securely. Customers can access this service seamlessly using mobile apps and other digital platforms.
Stakeholders believe that once this initiative is implemented, Padma Bridge's toll management system will become more modern and technology-driven.
It is noteworthy that electronic toll payment via "Upay" is already available at several other toll plazas, including Bhanga Toll Plaza, Dhaleshwari Toll Plaza, Meghna Bridge, Gomti Bridge, Charsindur Bridge, Karnaphuli Bridge, Madhumati Bridge, Bhairab Bridge, Ashuganj Bridge, and Hanif Flyover.
