The Managing Director of the retail chain Super Shop Swapno , Sabbir Hasan Nasir, has said that the per capita nutrition intake has decreased due to high inflation.
Sabbir Hasan Nasir said private-public partnerships and transparency can help set fair prices. The VAT net can be increased without increasing VAT on institutional businesses only.
"We have creative models in this regard," he said. "Increasing the interest rate has not reduced inflation, but production has to be increased. The cost of production has to be reduced."
He said these things at a seminar titled 'Reasonable Price of Food Products: Searching for Market Supervision Strategies' Bonik Barta organised at Sonargaon Hotel in the capital on Sunday (February 2).
Earlier, Dr Khandkar Golam Moazzem, Research Director of the Centre for Policy Dialogue, said that the previous government kept inflation within 6 per cent.
If one increased, the other was artificially reduced. The price of rice grows continuously throughout the year, even during the rice season. Millers increase the price as soon as the government stock decreases. How much rice is worth 27 rupees when sold at 57 rupees?
Khandkar Moazzem blamed the government, saying that the government did not have enough information about the market. They do not keep information on how much is produced or in shortage.
