IUB lifts teachers memorial basketball tournament trophy
Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) emerged as champions of the Teachers Memorial Basketball Tournament 2024, held from December 12 to 21 at St. Gregory High School, Dhaka.
The tournament featured over 30 teams and 300 players across various categories, bringing together top talents from the national basketball circuit.
IUB competed in the all-age men's category, including some of the country's most skilled players, including national team members. The team delivered consistent performances throughout the competition and secured the championship title.

IUB defeated two strong opponents in the group stage, advancing to the knockout rounds. During the semi-final match against the Gregorian Aces, a team with a strong legacy in the tournament, IUB secured their place in the final. The final game saw IUB facing Azad Boys in a competitive match, culminating in a victory with a score of 85-73.
The Teachers Memorial Basketball Tournament is regarded as one of the most prestigious events in Bangladesh's basketball community. This marks the first time a team outside of St. Gregory's traditional lineup has claimed the championship.
