The highly anticipated Offline Workshop and boot camp of Sustainovate Season 1.0 were successfully held today at M A Latif Auditorium, Department of Geology, University of Dhaka. Organised by the Department of Disaster Science and Climate Resilience (DSCR), University of Dhaka, and Earth's Ants, the event provided an engaging platform for discussions, knowledge-sharing, and interactive sessions on environmental sustainability and innovation.
A key highlight of the workshop was the presence of Fazle Elahi, an esteemed representative from the Department of Environment (DOE) under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bangladesh. He delivered an insightful session on noise pollution, addressing its impact on health and the environment. He gifted corded reusable earplugs to attendees to promote awareness and protection against noise pollution, emphasising the importance of proactive noise protection measures.
Another notable guest was Shamima Ferdousi Sifa, a distinguished Assistant Professor at the Department of Disaster Science and Climate Resilience, University of Dhaka. She was pivotal as a judge for the First Round of Sustainovate Season 1.0, evaluating participants' projects and offering valuable feedback to enhance their sustainability initiatives.
Adding to the excitement, Sohag, the Nafis Country Director of the Global Entrepreneurship Bootcamp, conducted an engaging, interactive session that the attendees highly appreciated. His session fostered creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, making it one of the most memorable segments of the event.
Professor Dr Zillur Rahman, Chairman of the Department of Disaster Science and Climate Resilience at the University of Dhaka, also graced the occasion. He emphasised the need for scientific advancements in environmental conservation, stating, "For so many years, we have primarily used science for development in the engineering field, which is highly commendable. If we can properly utilise science for environmental conservation, sustainable and effective development will be possible."
The event schedule included a governmental workshop, additional guest speaker sessions, a lively SDG games segment, and a surprise interactive session, keeping the participants engaged throughout the day.
The workshop concluded at 2:00 PM, leaving attendees inspired and equipped with valuable insights for driving sustainable change. With its thought-provoking discussions, expert insights, and interactive activities, the Sustainovate Season 1.0 Offline Workshop and Bootcamp was a resounding success, reinforcing the role of youth and innovation in shaping a sustainable future.
