Over 350 enthusiastic agricultural entrepreneurs from 11 upazilas in Naogaon district recently (February 6th) benefited from a skill development training session organised by United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB).
The training, which was held at the local upazila parishad auditorium, focused on empowering farmers to become successful entrepreneurs.
"I've never seen a bank train farmers on entrepreneurship," said Sohel Rana, a young farmer from Dhamoirhat upazila. "This training, along with the organic fertilisers, seeds, and equipment UCB previously provided, will be beneficial." Sohel'sOther participants shared Sohel's enthusiasm.
The day-long event featured Faruq Ahmed, Deputy Managing Director and CFO of UCB, as the chief guest. Other notable attendees included Rezaul Karim Siddique, presenter of BTV's agriculture program Mati O Manush, and also present at the inauguration of Md Abul Kalam Azad, Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension in Naogaon; Dr. Md Saiful Islam, District Veterinary Officer; Md. Ferdous Ali, District Fisheries Officer; Noopur Karmakar, Regional Head of UCB's Rajshahi Division; and S.M. Masud Rana, UCB's Naogaon branch manager. Several local agricultural officials.
Faruq Ahmed emphasised UCB's commitment to sustainable agricultural development and empowering farmers. Rezaul Karim Siddique praised UCB's Bhorshar Notun Janala project, which has already supported farmers through various initiatives, including tree planting, distributing smart agricultural devices like the Aaro Machh device, promoting alternative crops, installing lightning arresters, and providing agricultural machinery.
This training is part of UCB's Corporate Social Responsibility initiative under the Bhorshar Notun Janala project and is in line with Bangladesh Bank's directives. UCB is conducting similar training sessions in all 64 districts of the country to empower agricultural entrepreneurs nationwide.
