Online shopping fest to begin Saturday
There will be attractive offers for customers during the ten-day shopping festival
A ten-day long online shopping festival is due to begin on Saturday with the theme "Let the Country's Money Stay in the Country."
Some 14 leading e-commerce companies are jointly organising the festival in association with the e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-Cab).
At a virtual press conference, Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar inaugurated the festival Friday.
At the festival, organisers are going to have attractive offers including: a 10% discount on bKash payments, 50% discount vouchers, buy one get one, and free delivery services.
Inaugurating the fest, Mustafa Jabbar said that conventional trade and commerce is about to end as e-commerce is rapidly gaining popularity. Due to the swift change, manual labour based jobs are now being replaced with intellectual careers.
"In the new-normal, e-commerce could be the largest employment sector. For that, there is no alternative to making our youths skilled," he said.
Priyoshop's Chief Executive Officer Asikul Alam Khan moderated the programme while e-Cab president Shomi Kaiser presided over it.
In her speech, Shomi Kaiser said that the fest is being arranged in a bid to develop the country's e-commerce sector and provide customers with better service.
Chaldal's CEO Zia Ashraf, Pickaboo's CEO Morin Talukder, Xtra' CEO Monjurul Alam Mamun, among others, spoke at the inauguration.
