The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has directed all independent directors of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) to resign from the board.
A source from the BSEC confirmed the matter to The Business Standard, stating that, "as soon as possible, all the independent directors including chairman of the CSE and all independent directors of the DSE were verbally instructed to resign."
Upon receiving the resignation of the directors, the BSEC will take necessary action in this regard, he said.
The BSEC has also formed a probe committee today to look into share trading of Abdullah Al Mahmud, an independent director of the DSE.
The probe committee asked to submit a report to the commission within 15 working days.
Earlier on Sunday, DSE chairman Dr Hafiz Md Hasan Babu resigned from the board citing personal reasons.
