The International Plastic Fair has witnessed an overwhelming response, with over 10,000 visitors attending by the first half till noon today (14 February), the third day of the event.
Organisers shared the figures in the afternoon, noting that the number of visitors is expected to rise further as today is a holiday.
The four-day fair, which began on Wednesday, will conclude on Saturday.
The fair has attracted a diverse audience, including industry professionals, entrepreneurs, and technology enthusiasts.
Visitors are exploring a wide range of exhibits, including plastic products, manufacturing machinery, raw materials, and cutting-edge technologies.
This year, the fair features 800 stalls, with a significant presence of international brands. Out of the total stalls, only 180 are from Bangladesh, while the majority represent foreign companies. \

Sadman Yeasin, a representative of Power Jet (China), stated that a good number of visitors are coming. "The first day saw fewer visitors, but the turnout has been rising since the second day. And the numbers surged from Friday morning."
"We are receiving excellent feedback, and many visitors have inquired about our products. Since our high-priced industrial machinery requires careful consideration, customers are taking their time to decide," he added.
The fair is more about networking than immediate sales, and we will know the actual impact after the event concludes, he also said.
Echoing similar sentiments, Engineer Imran Hossain, a local representative of another Chinese company, said, "The visitor turnout is impressive, and we are engaging with many potential clients. We hope that many visitors will purchase our machinery after the fair. We are also offering discounts for bookings made during the event and additional benefits during installation."
Tahasan Mashroor, a visitor and owner of a toy manufacturing industry, highlighted the purpose of his visit, stating that people generally don't come to the fair to buy immediately. They come to gain experience and learn about new technologies.
"I am here for the same reason. If I find something suitable for my factory, I will decide to purchase it after the fair," he said,
The fair is not just a platform for showcasing products but also a hub for knowledge exchange.

This year, five seminars were held, focusing on critical topics such as sustainable plastic waste management, plastic waste recycling, circular economy in plastics, sustainable resource use in product design, and challenges and opportunities in Bangladesh's transportation economy.
The organisers also emphasised sustainability and SME growth as key focuses for holding the fair.
Shamim Ahmed, president of the Bangladesh Plastic Goods Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BPGMEA), emphasised the fair's broader goals:
"The primary purpose of this fair is to support SMEs. Many small and medium enterprises cannot afford to visit abroad to explore machinery, so this fair provides them with a unique opportunity," he said.
Ahmed also highlighted the growing focus on waste management and recycling technologies, with several companies showcasing innovative solutions at the fair.
He added that the seminars further aim to raise awareness about plastic waste management and promote environmental sustainability.
