Blake Lively is set to star in the Netflix adaptation of Diablo Cody's 'Lady Killer' comic series

Netflix is adapting Dark Horse Comics' acclaimed series 'Lady Killer' into a feature film. Diablo Cody has been tapped to adapt the comic book into a movie, and Blake Lively has been cast as the titular murderer. The streamer, on the other hand, is still looking for a director to direct the film.

Jolle Jones and Jamie S. Rich wrote the script for 'Lady Killer.' Laura Allred served as the colorist for the series, which was also illustrated by Jones. The limited-edition comic follows Josie Schuller, a 1950s housewife with a dark secret (whom Lively will play in the film). 

Despite having all of the stereotypical characteristics of a caring housewife, she is a contract killer for a local mafia organization. Josie will become a target herself when her husband begins to wonder where she goes at night and her boss loses confidence in her work.

The series was met with critical acclaim when it was first released in 2015. In 2016, it was nominated for an Eisner Award for Best Limited Series, as well as separately nominated for Jones' illustrations and cover art.

The adaptation is part of Netflix and Dark Horse's continuing first-look deal. So far, the partnership has worked out well, with their adaptation of 'The Umbrella Academy' being one of the most popular shows on Netflix. Jonas Kerlund's film 'Polar' and the upcoming 'Mystery Girl' are among the other projects to emerge from this deal.
