Dhaka-Khulna train services via Padma Bridge to launch tomorrow
The newly launched train can travel from Dhaka to Khulna or Benapole in just 3 hours and 45 minutes
Train services on Dhaka-Khulna route through Padma Bridge will be launched tomorrow (24 December).
Railways Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan will inaugurate the service at 9:30am at Kamalapur Railway Station tomorrow, railway sources said.
According to Ministry of Railways, 'Jahanabad Express' on Khulna-Dhaka-Khulna route and 'Ruposhi Bangla' Express on Benapole-Dhaka-Benapole route will travel regularly, keeping a one-day break in a week.
Both trains will remain closed on Mondays. Each train will offer a total of 768 seats across 12 coaches.
The newly launched train can travel from Dhaka to Khulna or Benapole in just 3 hours and 45 minutes. Currently, the journey from Dhaka to Khulna via Tangail-Ishwardi takes 9 and a half hours, while the trip to Benapole via Rajbari takes 7.35 hours.
Tickets will be available starting December 21 at 8 pm through station counters, online platforms, and mobile apps.
The railway department has announced the fares (excluding VAT) for the new Dhaka-Khulna route.
The fare from Dhaka to Khulna has been set at Tk445 for "Shovon" chairs, Tk740 for "Snigdha" class, Tk885 for AC seats, and Tk1,330 for AC berths.
