Govt to announce dearness allowance by 30 June
The dearness allowance will be added to the basic salary during the upcoming increment
Dearness allowance for government employees will be announced by 30 June, said Public Administration Ministry Senior Secretary Dr Md Mokhlesur Rahman today (9 January).
The secretary made the statement while speaking to reporters at the secretariat in the capital.
"The dearness allowance will be added to the basic salary during the upcoming increment," he said, without specifying the percentage of the allowance.
Mokhlesur, who is also a member of the Dearness Allowance Review Committee, said two meetings have already been held regarding the matter. This time, pensioners will also receive the dearness allowance, he added.
When asked about the timeframe, he said, "The allowance will certainly be provided before 30 June."
Regarding further details on the percentage of the allowance, he advised reporters to consult the finance adviser and the finance secretary.
He also refrained from providing any information on whether the current 5% incentive for government employees would continue after the dearness allowance is announced.
"It is not right to speculate on this matter," he said. "You can talk to the finance adviser and the finance secretary for more information."
