NBR’s revenue target for FY25 set to be cut by Tk16,500cr
The government is set to lower the revenue target for the National Board of Revenue (NBR) by Tk16,500 crore to Tk4,63,500 crore for the current fiscal year 2024-25.
The target was initially Tk4,80,000 crore, according to sources from NBR.
A senior NBR official, on condition of anonymity, confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.
"Earlier this month, the finance ministry decided to lower the NBR's revenue target to Tk3,63,500 crore, which is about 3.50% of the total target," he said.
He, however, did not disclose further details on the matter.
According to sources of the NBR, the government's revenue collection in the first half of the current fiscal year fell short of its target by a record Tk58,000 crore, marking a 1% year-on-year decline.
