2 shot dead in clash between rival groups on Meghna River
According to police, the clash broke out at around 7:30pm yesterday, possibly over a dispute related to sand extraction from the Meghna River

Two people were shot dead and another sustained bullet injuries in a clash between two rival groups on the Meghna River in the Mohanpur area of Chandpur, near Munshiganj, yesterday evening (30 January).
The deceased were identified as Tuhin, 29, and Rasel, 30. The injured, Ayub Ali, was transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
According to police, the clash broke out at around 7:30pm yesterday, possibly over a dispute related to sand extraction from the Meghna River.
Several people were injured during the clash. They were taken to Munshiganj General Hospital where doctors declared two of them dead.
Dr Masudur Rahman of the hospital said, "Two victims were brought to the hospital dead, while another was admitted with bullet injuries. He has been referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment."
"The incident took place in Chandpur. Upon receiving the news, we came to Munshiganj General Hospital and confirmed the deaths of two individuals. More details will be provided later," said Munshiganj's Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Billal Hossain.
