National University signs MOU with ICT Department

The preliminary discussions on signing a Memorandum of Understanding ( MOU) between the National University and the ICT Division on the prospects of ICT-based work-oriented education in the country's largest institution of higher education and the reform of the curriculum and the elimination of unemployment have been completed.

In the discussions, it was decided to form a high-level committee as soon as possible and to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the National University and the ICT Ministry. It was also agreed that the syllabus of the National University should be changed to Outcome Based Education ( OBE).
 
The seminar on signing the Memorandum of Understanding ( MOU) titled " Introducing Blended ICT Education in Curriculum" was held at the city office of the university on Wednesday, February 5, at 11 am. National University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ASM Amanullah chaired the seminar. It was attended by the Policy Advisor (Coordination and Reform) of the Information and Communication Technology Department of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Faiz Ahmed Tayyab, as the main discussant. In the seminar, the speakers discussed the future outline of reorganising ICT activities in the new syllabus and various aspects related to its impact on reducing unemployment.
 
In his speech, the university's Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr ASM Amanullah, said, "No alternative has been created so far other than ICT education for students to keep pace with the modern world. Whereas in the past decades, the state machinery has only produced educated unemployed people with the syllabus of the Mandhata era, where it is natural that work-oriented education and employment opportunities are not created." He also said, " Since the National University is the guardian of the higher education of the majority of the country's students, the future of about 70% of the students depends on its administration and the decisions they take. That is why the National University is working to produce technology-based and modern knowledge-rich students and to guarantee their jobs to solve unemployment.  The National University will complete initial discussions for signing MOUs with important policy-making government stakeholders as part of this effort. The Vice-Chancellor said, "The curriculum and syllabus must be logical and practical so that students can understand the outcome as soon as they pass. Otherwise, it is impossible to solve unemployment by just passing with a certificate. "
 
Faiz Ahmed Tayyab, Policy Advisor (Coordination and Reform) of the Information and Communication Technology Department, was the main discussant of the seminar. He said, " Continuous ICT practice should be combined with the main syllabus as needed." He gave special importance to providing ICT education by determining different levels. In this regard, he assured the National University of all kinds of cooperation from the government in implementing the plan. With the advancement of technology, everything is moving towards modernity; he also commented that it has become necessary to change and enhance ICT education in line with the times. Among others, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the National University, Professor Dr. Md. Nurul Islam, Treasurer Professor Dr. ATM Zafrul Azam, all the deans and registrars of the university, directors of various departments and A2I Representatives.
