A three-day Pre-Ramadan Exhibition kicked off on Friday at the Mezban Hall of Hotel Radisson Blu in Chattogram.
Over a hundred participants from Dhaka and Chattogram attended the event organised by M&M Business Communication, a platform for promoting women entrepreneurs.
Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain formally inaugurated the exhibition on Friday evening.
Speaking as the chief guest at the event, Dr Shahadat emphasised that women's empowerment is crucial for the country's sustainable development.
"The mayor stated that achieving the Sustainable Development Goals will be difficult if women do not receive equal societal opportunities and cannot progress. At the same time, the country's survival in the global competitive market will also face challenges. In addition to politics, greater involvement of women in business must be ensured so they can play their rightful role," he added.
He said, "The way women are stepping forward today must be maintained. Encouraging, congratulating, and respecting them socially will be the key to sustainable development. If women move forward, the city and the country will advance, and we can establish ourselves internationally."
The mayor also mentioned that, besides empowering women, the Chattogram City Corporation is working to ensure their health and sanitation facilities.
Founder and CEO of M&M Business Communication, Manzuma Murshed, said, "Modern people are fashion-conscious. Therefore, this event has been organised to introduce the latest fashion trends and modern lifestyle to the people of Chattogram."
"This exhibition features a variety of products, including clothing, jewellery, and shoes. More than 100 renowned entrepreneurs, fashion designers, brand organisations, and jewellery experts from Dhaka, Chattogram, and international markets are participating," she added.
The exhibition will run from Friday to Sunday, from 10 AM to 10 PM.
