67 houses, establishments fined Tk1.04 lakh as DNCC finds Aedes larvae
DSCC in a drive evicted more than 50 illegal shops and rickshaw garages occupying sidewalks and roads
The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Sunday found Aedes mosquito larvae in 67 houses and establishments during drives conducted to contain dengue outbreaks.
It also found suitable environments for Aedes mosquito breeding in 7,513 houses and under-construction buildings.
As part of their efforts to prevent dengue, the DNCC conducted drives in 12,496 houses and establishments.
The mobile court led by the DNCC fined owners of the houses and establishments Tk1.04 lakh in 27 cases for the presence of Aedes larvae.
So far, the DNCC has realised Tk5.46 lakh in fines during the drives that started from August 8.
During the drives, Aedes mosquito breeding grounds have been cleaned and pesticides have been sprayed.
Additionally, the city dwellers were asked to remain vigilant regarding the matter, DNCC officials said.
On the other hand, the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), in a drive evicted more than 50 illegal shops and rickshaw garages occupying sidewalks and roads in Purana Paltan area.
DSCC Executive Magistrate AH Irfan Uddin Ahmed led the drive in front of the National Sports Council in the capital.
He said, "These illegal establishments were obstructing the movement of the city dwellers. Eviction drives against illegal establishments and cables will continue."
