DNCC removes 620 more illegal signboards
The signboards were removed under the management of DNCC executive magistrates and sold through spot auction for Tk1.39 lakh
About 620 more illegal signboards were removed from the capital's Gulshan, Banani, and Pragati Sarani areas on Wednesday under the supervision of the executive magistrates of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC). These signboards and other goods were sold through spot auction for Tk1.39 lakh.
During the drive, a total of Tk97,000 was fined for doing business by occupying sidewalks and roads, not having a trade licence, and other offences.
About 257 illegal signboards, billboards and banners were removed at Gulshan Avenue under the supervision of the Chief Revenue Officer and Executive Magistrate Abdul Hamid Miah. Three companies were fined a total of Tk30,000 at that time.
Also, 70 illegally parked motorcycles were removed and the roads were opened to the public.
The removal drive at Banani Road 11 was led by Zone-7 Regional Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate Motakabbir Ahmed. More than 200 signboards and billboards were removed during the drive.
These removed goods were sold at an immediate auction for Tk60,000. An organisation was fined Tk10,000 for illegally occupying roads and sidewalks and obstructing the movement of people.
Besides, a total of 163 signboards, billboards were removed at Shahjadpur on Pragati Sarani under the supervision of Zone-6 Regional Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate Sajia Afrin.
The removed signboards and billboards were sold at auction for Tk79,500. Besides, four companies were fined Tk57,000 for occupying sidewalks and roads and not having trade licences.
The drive by the DNCC and the mobile court will continue removing illegal billboards, signboards, and illegal goods kept on footpaths for the time being.
