Large amount of Indian rupees seized in Dhaka
45 lakh Indian rupees seized from courier service counter
Dhaka Metropolitan Police seized a large amount of Indian rupees from SA Paribahan courier service counter in the city on Wednesday.
Mishu Biswas, the assistant police commissioner, Motijheel zone, confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.
Police also arrested two men, identified as Eaqub and Hasan, while they were receiving the luggage containing the rupees from a counter of SA Paribahan in Kakrail area in Dhaka.
Mishu Biswas said that at least 45 lakh rupees have been seized during the drive at the SA Paribahan Courier office in Kakrail.
"Acting on a tip-off, we raided the SA Paribahan Courier's office, and found a large amount of rupees along with some clothes in a luggage. We suspect that some organised criminals trafficked those currencies via Chattogram port, using the courier service. We are on the hunt for all the people involved in this," Mishu Biswas added.
