Youth arrested in Bagerhat rape case
PBI arrested him from the Dogri area of Shariatpur district on Friday morning after the victim's mother filed a case with the Bagerhat Model Police Station on Thursday night
The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) arrested a youth in a case filed for raping a seven-year-old child in Bagerhat.
The arrestee is identified as Enamul Sheikh, 22, the son of Malek Sheikh, a grocer of Mulghar village in Bishnapur union of Bagerhat Sadar upazila.
PBI arrested him from the Dogri area of Shariatpur district on Friday morning after the victim's mother filed a case with the Bagerhat Model Police Station on Thursday night.
Officer in Charge of PBI Bagerhat Shahidul Islam said, "Enamul had been on the run since the filing of the case. We apprehended him using technology. He will be handed over to the court after interrogation."
The incident happened on 5 January when the child was alone at home. Enam's elder brother Zakir Sheikh promised to serve justice on this matter but then he started to prolong the time. At last, the mother filed the case against Enamul.
Earlier in 2013, Enam was convicted for raping a six-year-old child.
