Police establish communication thru satellite for 1st time
In a groundbreaking development, Bangladesh Police have established wireless communication among multiple units using Bangabandhu Satellite-1 for the first time.
With the help of VSAT technology, a direct communication link has been established among Noakhali's Bhasanchar Police Station, the Rohingya Camp at Bhasanchar, and some other police units.
Thanks to the new communication technology, easy and uninterrupted communication with other parts of the country will continue even during natural calamities like cyclones.
Bangladesh launched Bangabandhu Satellite-1 through Space X from Florida into space on May 12, 2018.
The satellite's operations include "direct-to-home" service for TV channels, VSAT (very small aperture terminal), backhaul and network restoration, disaster preparedness and relief, among others.
The French manufacturer Thales Alenia Space handed over control of BS-I to the Bangladesh Communication Satellite Company in November 2018.
