Capital market professionals to come under health insurance
As the stock market is open amid the Covid-19 pandemic, BSEC came up with the insurance instructions
The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) moves to bring stock market staffers under health insurance facilities owing to the ongoing Covid-19 situation.
In a recent circular, the BSEC asked the employees of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), Central Depository Bangladesh Limited (CDBL), and Central Counterparty Bangladesh Limited (CCBL) to avail the insurance policies by 25 June, and then inform the commission.
On top of this, staff of other companies in the market have also been asked to pursue the insurances and inform the commission.
A top official of BSEC said as the stock market is open amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the regulator came up with the instructions.
Earlier, the Bangladesh Bank announced compensations for on-duty bank employees. But there have been no such packages for the capital market people.
With the health insurances in place, officers and employees of the sector hope they would be better covered now from the pandemic risks.
