Helena Jahangir to be slapped with 5 cases

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) is preparing to file five cases against Helena Jahangir who recently lost membership of the Awami League's sub-committee on women's affairs for "breaching party policies".

She will be sued under five separate acts including the Narcotics Control Act, said RAB Director (legal and media wing) Khandaker Al Moin at a briefing at RAB Headquarters in the capital today.

Meanwhile, RAB handed over her to Gulshan Police Station after interrogating her at RAB Headquarters, reports Somoi TV.

"Helena Jahangir used to extort money with the help of an organised gang," said the RAB official. 

She was engaged in various social organisations to implement her agenda, said Khandaker Al Moin, adding that she is a member of around 12 clubs. 

She also used to raise funds for Joyjatra Foundation and used most of the funds raised to promote herself, her name, and reputation. 

Helena Jahangir built up good relations with people in power, and abused her relationship with them to implement her agenda, said RAB.

RAB conducted a drive in her residence Thursday midnight, seizing a large amount of narcotics and gambling materials.

Later, she was shown arrested on charges of spreading falsehood, propaganda, and misinformation using digital platforms. 

RAB also raided and sealed off Joyjatra TV, of which, Helena Jahangir is the chairman.
