In a new development, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Thursday cancelled his scheduled visit to India.

The cancellation of the visit by two ministers came just a day after Citizenship Bill was passed in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. Earlier, the bill was passed in Lok Sabha on Monday.

Sharif Mahmud Apu, public relations officer at the home ministry confirmed the media about the cancellation of the home minister's India tour.
Home Minister Kamal was scheduled to visit India on Friday, at the invitation of Chief Minister of Meghalaya Conrad Kongkal Sangma.
Kamal was to visit Shillong to attend an event by the freedom fighters welfare trust for the support by people in the region for Bangladesh's Liberation War.
Without citing any reason behind cancellation of the planned trip, Apu said, "The home minister will visit Meghalaya at a convenient time in the future. The visit might take place in January or February next."
Earlier, Foreign Minister Dr AKA Momen cancelled his three-day visit to India. Momen was scheduled to arrive in New Delhi at 5:20pm on Thursday for the 6th Indian Ocean Dialogue.
Foreign ministry officials in Dhaka claimed the scheduled visit of the foreign minister has been cancelled due to his "busy schedule" at home ahead of the Martyred Intellectuals Day and the Victory Day.
