Art camp at Sreemangal to commemorate Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary
The artwork produced in the Gandhi @ 150 Art Camp is scheduled for exhibition at Shilpakala Academy in early January 2020.
Bangladeshi artists commemorated Mahatma Gandhi at a four-day art camp in Sreemangal upazila of Moulvibazar, marking his 150th Birth Anniversary.
Fifteen young Bangladeshi artists participated in the program titled "Gandhi @150 Art Camp" from December 12 to 15, organised by the High Commission of India, Dhaka.
Deputy High Commissioner of India Bishwadip Dey visited the art camp on Saturday, the third day of the event and interacted with the artists, said a press release.

The artists, working on themes based on Gandhian philosophy such as Truth & Non-violence (Ahimsa), 'Universal brotherhood- Vasudeiva Kutumbakam', etc have brought out artwork in the nature of sculpture, paintings, batik work, etc.
The renowned artist and professor at Faculty of Fine Arts, Dhaka University Rokeya Sultana of Dhaka University was the mentor of the camp.
Earlier, Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka Riva Ganguly Das inaugurated the art camp at the High Commission office in Dhaka on Wednesday (December 11).
Inaugurating the camp, High Commissioner Riva Ganguly Das said, "I am pleased to see the enthusiastic participation by the young artists in the Gandhi @ 150 Art Camp. Their work is indeed reflective of their understanding of the Gandhian way of thought. Gandhi's principles are timeless and I am encouraged to see that it has found resonance in the minds of these young participating artists."
Tahia Hossain, one of the participating artists, said, "I have tried to depict Mahatma Gandhi's lifelong work for peace on canvas. He showed us the path of peace and proved with his life that one can achieve one's goal without resorting to violence."

The Gandhi @ 150 art camp is part of India's grand celebration the 150th Birth Anniversary of the India's "Father of the Nation" Mahatma Gandhi across their country and in Indian Missions abroad.
Back in September of 2019, a high-level event celebrating the Mahatma was held at UN Headquarters, which was graced by the presence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
