AL leader Enamul, brother remanded over casino business
The brothers were shareholders of Wanderers Club in the capital’s Fakirapool
A Dhaka court today placed Awami League leader Enamul Haque and his brother Rupon Haque on a four-day remand each in two separate cases filed against them.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury also placed their associate Sheikh Mostafa Sunny on a three-day remand.
The court gave the order after Mehedi Maksud, inspector of the organised crime unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), sought a 10-day remand for the three, confirmed Sub-Inspector Abdur Rob, general recording officer of Gendaria and Sutrapur police stations.
The CID on Monday arrested Enamul, vice-president of Gendaria thana Awami League, and Rupon, joint general secretary of the same unit, from Keraniganj area.
They were staying at a rented house in Keraniganj where they were trying to prepare fake passports to flee the country.
The brothers were shareholders of Wanderers Club in the capital's Fakirapool.
