Election 2050
Year 2050.
The world as we know it has radically changed. The fine line between reality and science fiction has faded. Thirty years into the future, Earth looks like those futuristic colony planets we have seen in many movies.
One Friday morning, a fleet of spaceships marched towards Earth. They have come from a distant space station, owned by a country called Bangladesh. The purpose of their arrival? You will find out soon.
The spaceships take off one after another. Since most humans live in outer space in the future, only robots inhabit the surface. In a busy robot neighbourhood, the spaceships land on an open field. A door hinges open from the biggest ship. Hundreds of robots (all Bangladeshi) swarm over the door, tussling to get down on the ground. They eventually do, but not in an orderly manner. After all, Bengali robots inherit the traits of a typical Bangladeshi!
The robots gather around and start babbling in their synthetic voice. Minutes later, their leader emerged from the crowd. This robot essentially looked different than his counterparts. With his hoarse, metallic voice, the alpha robot stands atop a podium. He gives an elongated speech for his election campaign. After all, he was running for mayor of Dhaka city! (In 2050, Dhaka is located in a distant Earth like planet).
By the time the leader finishes his dramatic speech, the neighbourhood already knew what political theatricality awaits. The local robots, both poor and solvent, chuckled. They knew the potential mayor has brought some unwarranted gifts for them.
The mayor candidate cues his disciples to open a freighter ship. As the freighter opens, disciple robots lose no time to unload the so called "gifts."
The gifts were, in fact, millions of promotional posters – laminated – of the mayoral candidate. The poster read, "Nazrul bhai ke lightsaber markay vote din."
Ironically, the universe has been blessed with laser guns and time machines, but some things about Bangladesh never change! Nazrul bhai's poster wraps the city all over, leaving it look like that of the current state of our metropolis.
