Abahani knocked out of AFC Cup
In the previous leg at home, Abahani managed to draw 2-2 with the Maldives-based side.
Dhaka Abahani Ltd have been knocked out of the second preliminary stage of the AFC Cup after they were held to a 0-0 draw by FC Maziya in the second leg away at Maldives.
In the previous leg at home, Abahani managed to draw 2-2 with the Maldives-based side. Abahani needed a win at any cost to go through but failed to. And that ensured a 2-2- scoreline on aggregate, with Maziya going through on away goals.
The result is a blow for the Dhanmondi giants as they had reached the Inter-Zone semifinals last year after they had beaten DPR Korean side 4.25 SC.
Maziya will now face either of India's JSW Bengaluru FC or Paro FC of Bhutan next week in the play-off. The winner of this play-off will go on to join Group E alongside Basundhara Kings of Bangladesh, Chennai City FC of India and Maldives' TC Sports Club.
