ACC to monitor govt relief programmes as it finds irregularities
The ACC also decided to take legal action against those accumulating wealth out of known income sources through these relief programmes.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) was informed by different media reports and their own detectives that some people are involved in irregularities and corruption in distributing relief of various social security programmes provided by the government amid the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.
After getting the information, the ACC decided that the officers of its district offices will closely monitor the relief programmes through coordination with the local deputy commissioners.
The ACC also decided to take legal action against those accumulating wealth out of known income sources through these relief programmes.
ACC Chairman Iqbal Mahmood said, "All divisional offices and integrated district offices of the commission were instructed on the matter. The Anti-Corruption Commission will not tolerate corruption in any kind of social security programmes provided by the government. I am saying today as I said before that there is no opportunity to enjoy the unearned income, according to the Constitution of Bangladesh."
