Rock band U2 donates $10 million for Covid-19 relief in Ireland
Bono, singer of U2, felt that the crisis needed more than a musical response
Members of the Irish rock band U2 have donated more than $10 million to Covid-19 relief efforts in their native Ireland.
The donation will help purchase the personal protective equipment (PPE) to help front line workers in hospitals across the country. A spokesperson for the band confirmed the donation to the PA news agency.
Bono, singer of U2, felt that the crisis needed more than a musical response. "I just don't think this is the moment for U2 to be doing a sort of Kumbaya thing. It just doesn't feel right for me – it feels like a time for action rather than words," the singer told The Irish Times.
