BPSC recommends 1164 for union land sub-assistant officer post
With the establishment of smart land management, Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury directed the recruitment of various officers at the field level through BPSC to appoint talented officers in land management
Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) has recommended the appointment of 1164 Union Land Sub-Assistant Officers in the offices under the Ministry of Land.
BPSC published this list on its official website through a press release on 20 September.
With the establishment of smart land management, Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury directed the recruitment of various officers at the field level through BPSC to appoint talented officers in land management.
The land minister believes that by appointing candidates interested in working in the land sector from a pool of candidates who have passed the BCS examination but could not be recommended due to a shortage of cadre posts, there will be a qualitative change in land management and service delivery.
Currently, there is a promotion scope from 'Union Land Sub-Assistant Officer' in the 12th Pay Grade to 'Union Land Assistant Officer' in Grade 11, 'Kanungo' in Grade 10, and 'Additional Land Acquisition Officer' in Grade 9.
'Union Land Sub-Assistant Officers' begin their careers in Union Land Offices under the Deputy Commissioner's Office and Upazila/Circle Land Office across the country. The former name of 'Union Land Sub-Assistant Officer' is Assistant Tahsildar.
On 19 June, the BPSC invited applications from candidates who had passed both the written and oral examinations of the 40th BCS examination 2018 but could not be recommended for cadre posts.
Only those who had applied online, expressing interest in obtaining jobs in non-cadre posts in grades 9th to 12th during that period, were said to be considered.
In the notification, the BPSC also stated that, according to the relevant recruitment rules, qualified candidates would be selected based on merit.
In the relevant notification inviting applications, applications were invited for 1342 12th-grade posts for the position of 'Union Land Sub-Assistant Officer' under the Ministry of Land, the highest among the total 4478 vacant posts of grades 9th-12th published in that notification.
However, the BPSC finally recommended the appointment of 1164 Union Land Sub-Assistant Officers, as suitable candidates were not available for the remaining 178 posts.
