BSEC to donate Tk2cr to PM’s relief fund

Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) will donate Tk2 crore to the prime minister's relief and welfare fund to help the poor affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
The decision came from a meeting through a videoconference on Thursday.
Saifur Rahman, executive director and spokesperson of the stock market regulator, told The Business Standard, "BSEC wants to donate Tk2 crore to the prime minister's relief fund to assist in the battle against Covid-19."

The donation will be transferred at the prime minister's relief fund shortly, he added.
Earlier, Chattogram Stock Exchange had provided necessary support to around 4,000 impoverished families as part of its corporate social responsibility.
Bangladesh Merchant Bankers Association had also distributed rice, lentil, oil, onion and other necessary items among the poor.
As of now, 127 people have died from Covid-19 while the number of infected patients is 4,186.
To curb the coronavirus spread, the country has been under a prolonged general holiday for nearly one month.
