A three-month old infant has tested positive for Covid-19 at Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Disease (BITID) in Chattogram, making it the youngest coronavirus patient reported in Bangladesh.
On May 11, a record 64 people were diagnosed with novel coronavirus infection in the port city.
Chattogram Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said, "We tested 234 samples at BITID lab on May 11, of which 39 people tested positive including this baby."
"Currently, the infant is living at its home in Patiya upazila. We'll take a decision today in this regard," he added.
Earlier, a ten-month old baby was reported with coronavirus infection in Chattogram.
On the same day, 56 samples were tested at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) lab and 93 at Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) lab, of which 15 and 26 people tested positive respectively.
As of now, 333 people tested Covid-19 positive in Chattogram. Among them 22 have died and 64 returned home after recovery.
