PM approves Tk25cr from relief fund to pay employees of municipalities
Some 12,519 employees and 20,000 cleaning staff of 328 municipalities – recruited through outsourcing – will come under the benefit
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today approved the allocation of Tk25 crore from her relief fund for the purpose of paying salary and allowances to the officers and staff of the municipalities across the country.
The prime minister's press wing confirmed the matter.
Some 12,519 employees and 20,000 cleaning staff of 328 municipalities – recruited through outsourcing – will come under the benefit.

All the municipal staffers are working relentlessly amid the general holidays declared by the government to curb the spread of coronavirus.
They are now actively working to control aedes mosquito and to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Most of the municipalities could not pay wages to their staff as their revenue collection was not at a satisfactory level for the last two months due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
On the other hand, their expenditure has increased as they are providing emergency services.
