Two fires strike Dhaka in short span
The cause of the second fire remains under investigation
Two separate fires erupted in Dhaka on Saturday within a half-hour window, although no injuries were reported in either incident.
The first incident occurred around 10:15am at the generator room of La Vinci Hotel in Karwan Bazar. Six firefighting units responded and extinguished the blaze within approximately 30 minutes.
Nazim Uddin Sarker, senior station officer of Tejgaon Fire Station, said that five units, including three from Tejgaon station, initially battled the flames. He further confirmed that the fire originated from a generator explosion.
Later, at approximately 10:45 am, another fire broke out at a six-story building in Dholaikhal. Two firefighting units from Sutrapur Fire Station and two units from Siddik Bazar Fire Station arrived and contained the blaze within 30 minutes.
Lima Khanom, an on-duty official at the fire service headquarters control room, reported that the fire originated on the second floor of the six-story building which houses the Dholaikhal branch of Mutual Trust Bank.
The cause of the second fire remains under investigation.
