3 bombs recovered from suspected Narayanganj militant den
Police have recovered three bombs from a suspected militant hideout in Boropa area under Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj.
The bomb disposal unit later defused the bombs around 4:45pm today (2 July).
Earlier in the day, the members of Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) and Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) conducted a raid at a flat of a four-storied building in Boropa area.
Shahnewaz, a tenant of the building, said a person rented the raided flat three months ago and lived there with his wife, two sons, and a daughter.
He mentioned that the flat had been locked for the past three days.
Sanowar Hossain, the police officer who led the operation, told the media, "Nobody was found during the operation. However, three bombs were recovered and safely defused by detonation."
ATU Police Super Mahfuz-ul Alam Rasel told BSS, "On Monday, a female militant was arrested from Cox's Bazar. On the basis of her information, the ATU team first surrounded the house in the morning after identifying it in the northern Rupgang and later started a search operation."
