Sujon resigns from BCB

Change is sweeping through the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Several directors have already resigned, and now another name has been added to the list. Khaled Mahmud Sujon has resigned from his position as a director. Since 2013, he has served the BCB in various capacities.

The Chief Executive of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.

Speaking to TBS, the BCB Chief Executive said, "Khaled Mahmud Sujon has come to BCB to offer his resignation letter, and we have received it. He has mentioned personal reasons for his resignation."

Sujon joined the BCB in 2013 after defeating the current Chief Selector, Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu, in the elections to become a director. Since then, he has held several roles within the BCB, including national team manager, team director, and interim coach, alongside his director responsibilities.

In his 11-year journey with the BCB, Sujon achieved significant success. Under his supervision, Bangladesh won the Under-20 World Cup in 2020, and he was also involved in the youth team's recent Asia Cup victory.

Khaled Mahmud said he no longer wants to work with the national team after not receiving enough respect during his time as the team director in the World Cup last year.

Mahmud previously told the media that he was not clear about his role during the flagship event and his statement implied that his involvement in the team's decision-making was highly restricted. 

"I don't think I'm the solution to Bangladesh cricket anymore; there are bigger solutions there. I don't have any desire to get involved with the national team anymore," 

Since the change in government, the BCB has seen periodic changes. Jalal Yunus was the first to step down as a BCB director, and Ahmed Sajjadul Alam Bobby, who had been appointed by the NSC, was removed.

Following this, Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel, who was in charge of the women's department, and Naimur Rahman Durjoy also resigned from their director posts. Now, Sujon has followed suit. Altogether, five BCB directors have lost their positions so far, some stepping down voluntarily, while others were removed.

Afterward, former national team captain Naimur Rahman Durjoy resigned from his position as a director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Now Sujon has also stepped down. A few days ago, Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel resigned from his role as the head of the women's division, although he remains a BCB director. Similarly, Nazmul Hassan Papon, who stepped down as president, is still a director of the BCB.
