A walk in the Singra National Park
On the occasion of World Tourism Day tomorrow (27 September), consider paying this park a visit
The Singra National Park, a protected forest area in Bangladesh, is located in Dinajpur.
Locally known as Singra Shalban, the area has the Narta river flowing through.
The area was declared a national park by the Forest Department on 10 October 2010 with the objective of improving the natural environment, conservation of wildlife and development of tourism facilities.

In winter, the park meets a large number of tourists.
Its scenic beauty is further complimented by by deciduous trees.
At some point, the forest was home to various species of wild animals including tigers and nilgai.
Due to the persistent destruction of forest lands and increasing population in surrounding areas, the animals started disappearing from this forest land.
At present, various species of birds and insects, including rabbits, foxes, and snakes, can be seen in the forest.
If you start from Dhaka, you will find Dinajpur, which is 40km north of the city by road and 15km from Birganj upazila. Its located in the distrcit's Bhognagar Union.
The forest land covers a total of 355 hectares while the national park covers 305.69 hectares.
