Three including Haji Salim shown arrested in Rakib murder case
Police arrested Salim from the capital's Bongshal area on the night of 1 September. He was placed on a five-day remand the next day in the case lodged over the murder of Ideal College student Khalid Hasan Saifullah during the recent mass uprising
A Dhaka court today (7 October) showed former Dhaka-7 lawmaker Haji Mohammad Salim, former councillor Hasibur Rahman Manik and Dhaka University (DU) Chhatra League general secretary Tanvir Hasan Saikat arrested in a case lodged over the murder of Rakib Hawlader during the protests led by the Anti-discrimination Student Movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbubur Rahman passed the order as police produced the trio before the court and pleaded to show them arrested in the case filed with the capital's Chawkabazar police station.
Police arrested Salim from the capital's Bongshal area on the night of 1 September. He was placed on a five-day remand the next day in the case lodged over the murder of Ideal College student Khalid Hasan Saifullah during the recent mass uprising.
Saikat was arrested on 14 August in the city's Nikunja residential area under Khilkhet police station. He was placed on a 10-day remand in a murder case filed with the Paltan police station.
Meanwhile, former councillor of Dhaka South City Corporation's ward-26 Hasibur Rahman Manik was arrested from the Lalbagh Kellar More area on 22 August and was placed on a five-day remand in college student Khalid Hasan Saifullah killing case the next day.
